Cut Your Ties With Anxiety

Are you one of the 40 million Americans who are currently trying to cope with anxiety?

Are you one of the 40 million Americans who are currently trying to cope with anxiety?

Maybe you aren’t, but there will be a time in your life when you will become overwhelmed, stressed or anxious. You could be on that path RIGHT NOW or at some point make a wrong decision that will lead you to a raging river of anxiety.

The worst part about anxiety, is that it not only turns you into a victim, but it gets into your brain and makes you start to believe everything is going to go bad. Everything is going to fail! When you are navigating the river of anxiety, you are lost in the rapids. You don’t know where you’re going or if you’ll make it, and you are just hopelessly trying to get out of the water!

It could be money or relationship issues, worrying about your future or your kids’ future, your business or career, but wherever might be the source that anxiety is working its way daily deeper into your life. You see, right now whatever you have as the main stress in your life acts like an open floodgate allowing anxiety to pour in like a broken water pipe. If you find the leak or identify the symptoms, you can stop it before you’re treading water.

But, I’ve noticed too many people turn to medication to cope with their anxiety. Instead of identifying the root problem and treating that, they treat the symptoms with toxic chemicals that are not only highly addictive and horrible for you… but they don’t even fix the problem!

If you want a real strategy to unbind yourself, walk through these steps:

  1. Identify your “trigger.” Ask yourself, “When is the first time I felt this way?” Was it after you got into a big fight with someone near you, after you started receiving phone calls from bill collectors?
  2. Cut your ties with those “triggers!” Getting free from anxiety is one thing, but staying free is a different story. If you are someone who tends to fall back into your old thought patterns, you have to be proactive and walk in the opposite direction.
  3. Feed your faith. When you feel like you’re drowning, things seem hopeless. You lose sight of the things that are going well, or what has gone well in the past. Find things that you know will keep you moving in the right direction and focus on that!

When you’re caught up in the rapids, it is so hard to see past your line of sight to what lies ahead. Your brain will try to tell you you’re about to go over a waterfall.

I hope this message helped to ease your anxiety a little today. But once you understand where your major source of anxiety comes from and what you’re triggers are, it becomes a lot easier to navigate. You don’t have to drown!
