I want you to imagine something with me right now. You are standing on a busy street corner in a big city. Traffic is thick – cars,  trucks, taxis and buses are honking their horns. You hear babies crying and children begging their parents for the new toys they see in a store window. You hear car alarms and emergency sirens. A teenager yells to his friend across the street. There are people rushing around everywhere, bumping into each other. The hustle and bustle of the city creates an overwhelming buzz of noise surrounding you on every side.

It’s all noise. Can you feel the stress, anxiety and pressure that come with all that noise? That is basically what living in today’s world is like…all the time. There is always commotion, provided by distractions along with what feels like phones ringing everywhere you go!

And it can be overwhelming. Have you ever noticed in the midst of all this noise, it can be hard to keep moving forward? Because it is disorientating! With everything else going on, it’s hard to focus on pushing ahead.

Extra noise in your life, just like it does in traffic, creates confusion and chaos. It can make it more difficult to think clearly and make thoughtful decisions. Don’t you think it’s about time to regain control of your life?

You and I both know life takes some unexpected turns and sometimes you just go with the flow. But have you ever stopped, looked back and thought, “Man, how did I get way over here?”

What if your mind was not cluttered with so much junk? What would you do with your life if you were not always stressed out and overwhelmed? I truly believe you can and will reach your full potential. IF you learn to eliminate the noise and make decisions that will lead you to success.

When you have a clear and calm mind, you will find it easier to make decisions that will set you up for the kind of success you desire in your life.

So I want you to try this, starting today. Even if you have mountains of work to complete or errands to run, I want you to take time to just STOP. Breathe! Throughout the day, just stop and take a deep breath. Eliminate the noise, quiet your mind, and focus on what is most important in that very moment.

Isn’t it so true that we can get caught up in day-to-day tasks, paper-pushing and errands that we totally forget what it’s all for? When you get lost in the noise, you get bored, overwhelmed, tired because you’re not focusing on what’s important. Next time you are doing even the most boring of tasks, remind yourself that this is a step toward your greater goal. Whether that goal is funding your next vacation, feeding orphans or paying off your debt.

If it helps, put up a picture in your office or at your desk at home. Or a quote, a number… something that will remind you of the bigger picture.
