Are you a bold person? Maybe you’re thinking you don’t have that type of personality. Today, I want to help you find that boldness, despite what you may think about yourself.

The Bible says, “The wicked fleed when no one is pursuing, but the righteous are bold as lion.” (Proverbs 28:1) There is something so strange I’ve noticed recently, I’m not sure if you’ve seen the same thing. Have you ever met a person who claims to know God, but they don’t ever talk about it, share His words or have any evidence of a relationship with Him in their lives?

Let me give you a really specific example. I was helping my spiritual daughter recently set up her eHarmony profile. I read a lot of profile matches listed as Christian. On this dating site you fill out a bunch of questions, and while these people identified themselves as Christian, they continued to answer all the questions in a very secular manner. Only 1 person out of 30 profiles said they were most passionate about their relationship with Jesus Christ. And sadly, just 2 out of 60 thought the most important quality in a mate was a shared deep love for Christ.

It reminds of a time in biblical history when the hearts of the people of Israel turned cold to God. God sent Elijah, the prophet, to them with a bold message. And now, as I see such similar situations in our world, that bold message is SO relevant!

“Elijah came near to all the people and said, ‘How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.’ But the people did not answer him a word. Then Elijah said to the people, ‘I alone am left a prophet of the Lord, but Baal’s prophets are 450 men. Now let them give us two oxen; and let them choose one ox for themselves and cut it up, and place it on the wood, but put no fire under it; and I will prepare the other ox and lay it on the wood, and I will not put a fire under it. Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord, and the God who answers by fire, He is God.’ And all the people said, ‘That is a good idea.'” (I Kings 18:21-24)

Look how confident Elijah was in his One True God. The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Which God do you have that kind of confidence in? None? Is it yourself, are you your own god? Your money?

I seriously want you to consider how much of your time you spend thinking and worrying about money. If it’s a lot, you might as well be worshipping it! How much of your time do you put into your career and business or thinking even about it?

You need to step back from modern day idols. What are your priorities? Because what fills your brain is the proof of your real priorities. And that fruit shows in your real life too, just like it came through loud and clear in those questionnaires on eHarmony.

People boldly call upon their credit cards, food, porn, shopping and other people for satisfaction, provision and help. Why not call upon Him – who made you! You must BOLDLY call upon Him – knowing He hears you and will answer you!

What you focus on you will get good at. If you are putting all your attention into stress, money or other things, you are neglecting your faith. Put that focus back into what’s really important. You might start seeing better fruit in your life!
