Are you a “clean freak”… maybe a tad OCD? Do you like everything to be neat and in its rightful place? Or are you the type of person who always has a messy room, car, kitchen sink?

There are people who care about a clean house and those who don’t and it’s likely you live with a mix of both! I wanted to use this simple example to let you in on an important thought.

In my life, I’m a total clean freak. I enjoy waking up and making my bed in the morning. My dirty clothes are always in the hamper and my towel is neatly hung on the hook.

That trait in my personality is one of my greatest skills. Being organized and clean creates an environment of peace and productivity for me.

But it’s also my greatest weakness! One weekend I returned home to find my house a mess and I nearly lost it! There were dishes in the sink, clutter everywhere. I was totally stressed-out and upset.

Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. And often, like with my clean-freak trait, your greatest strength can also be your greatest weakness. Some people are obsessed with perfection. They do great work, get great results, but they will stress themselves out, lose sleep and spend excessive hours obsessing over projects to achieve “perfection.”

It’s important to know your weak points. Especially in situations like this. I could have let a messy house drive me up a wall. But what would I have gained from that? Was it worth the extra stress to freak-out on people who don’t appreciate a clean house the way I do?

I know it isn’t important to them! I want you to think about your strengths and your gifts that are particular to you, today. What really makes you strive in your work, at home?

Do you also let that trait rule your life? That is a weak point you can totally work on to remove stress from your life and your relationships.

Let me know about a time when your strengths have become your weakness! None of us is perfect, let’s embrace each other’s personality giftings together.
