The truth is, everyone wants to be happy and satisfied. Everyone wants to live a fulfilled life. But if you look around today, you’ll see a world full of people constantly searching for satisfaction… and never quite finding it.

I’m telling you this because I want you to have the freedom to live the life of significance you so desire. Unfortunately, “follow your heart” is not sound career advice. However, it also doesn’t mean your current career or opportunity path won’t eventually merge with your passions. It doesn’t have to be one or the other!

According to Forbes, 91% of “Generation Y” workers (those born in the 80s and 90s) only expect to stay in a job for 3 years or less, and half of them would rather be unemployed than stay in a job they hate! Remarkably, 3 out of 5 “Gen Y-ers” feel personally responsible for making a difference in the world. Forbes magazine stated this trend in a nutshell: “Millennials most want a career that actually matters.”

While it’s great this generation is driven by a deep desire to feel satisfied in their work, and to make the world a better place, it seems they take that “follow your passion” mantra as sound career advice. Leaving school, they’re pure fireballs of potential, with unlimited opportunities! Yet, they choose to spend their time and energy seeking their passion.

Once they find their passion, they spend the rest of their lives searching for a career to fit that passion, convinced it’s the only way to satisfaction. Nothing could be further from the truth! I’m here to tell you “satisfaction” does not come from finding that perfect job to reflect your passion. It doesn’t come from working within your preferred industry…

So, STOP SEARCHING! Stop trying to figure out who you are and what you want, and DO what’s in front of you! You’ve got to give 100% and work with excellence and diligence, regardless of what you’re doing. That’s where you find satisfaction.

When I was homeless and started a business out of the trunk of my car, it was NOT because my product was my “passion.” I did not dream of selling a weight-loss product for the rest of my life. No way!!! I started that business because that’s what was in front of me. It’s the opportunity I had at the time. Even today, I actually have to do things I don’t really enjoy doing. I never dreamed of being a published author… working on my books is a real chore! I’m not a writer! I don’t write because it’s what I’m passionate about. If I had searched for what I was passionate about, I would still be homeless today!

Recognizing those opportunities, and the success that stemmed from them, allowed me to do what I was truly passionate about: feeding orphans and helping YOU find financial independence and nurture growth in every area of your life.

I completely understand the desire to do something meaningful with your life, and it’s amazing you want to make a difference in the world. But did you realize you can impact the world by doing what’s in front of you RIGHT NOW?

Can you imagine what the workplace (and the world) would be like if everyone could find satisfaction in what they actually do?
