Have you ever wondered what you’re supposed to do with your life? Have you considered your purpose on this earth? How many years of your life have you spent searching for meaning and satisfaction? When, if ever, have you felt fulfilled?

Truthfully, everyone wants to feel happy and satisfied. Everyone wants to live a fulfilled life. But if you look around, you’ll see a world full of people constantly searching for satisfaction… but never quite finding it.

I’m telling you this, because I want you to have the freedom to live your desired life of significance.

Did you know less than 20% of Americans are satisfied with their work, according to Forbes magazine? Economists say a lack of job satisfaction hurts innovation, competitiveness and productivity – causing older workers’ reluctance to pass their knowledge and skills to the next generation. Can you see how this causes a major breakdown in our workforce?

This could explain why 91% of “Millennial” workers (those born in the 80s and 90s) only expect to stay in a job for a maximum of three years and why HALF would rather be unemployed, than stay in a job they hate? Remarkably, 3 out of 5 “Gen Y-ers” feel personally responsible for making a difference in the world. Forbes summarized this trend nicely: “Millennials most want a career that actually matters.”

While we applaud this generation’s deep desire to feel satisfied in their work and make the world a better place, it seems they take the “follow your passion” mantra as sound career advice. Leaving school, fireballs of pure potential, with unlimited opportunities already, ironically these Millennials choose to spend their time and energy seeking their passion!

Once they find their passion, they spend the rest of their lives searching for a career to fit that passion, convinced it’s the only path to satisfaction.

But nothing could be further from the truth! Let me tell you, “satisfaction” does NOT come from finding the perfect job in your preferred industry or a job that “fits” your passion. And it’s not limited to Millennial workers!

So, STOP SEARCHING!!! Stop trying to figure out who you are and what you want – just DO what’s in front of you! You’ve got to give 100% and work with excellence and diligence, regardless of what you’re doing. That’s when satisfaction comes.

When I was homeless and started a business out of the trunk of my car, it was NOT because my product was my “passion.” I tried the product and it didn’t even work for me! I did not dream of selling a weight-loss product for the rest of my life. No way!!! I started that business, because that’s what was in front of me. It was the opportunity I had at the time. If I had waited to start, until I found what I was passionate about, I would STILL be homeless!

I completely understand the desire to do something meaningful with your life and it’s amazing you want to make a difference in the world. But do you realize, you can impact the world by doing what’s in front of you RIGHT NOW?

What you focus on, you get more of… so focus on finding satisfaction in your work. Instead of focusing on hating your job, coworkers or boss, focus on what you like about your job. Focus on doing your absolute best every day. When you work with excellence and diligence, you WILL find satisfaction in your work.

Can you imagine what the workplace (and world) would be like, if everyone could find satisfaction in what they actually do? People would certainly be more fulfilled – and not just in work, but in every area of life. YOU can help make that a reality by simply sharing this message with your friends, family and coworkers!
