I’m sure you’ve heard about the devastating earthquake that happened recently in Haiti. Many are homeless, hungry, thirsty, injured and suffering great loss.

There’s been quite a bit of chat about this on our Facebook fan page recently, some of which I’ve copied for you below from Dani personally.

Many people don’t know this because its not something we talk about that often, but since the inception of Call To Freedom/DaniJohnson.com we’ve taken a minimum of 10% from all gross sales revenue (before paying our bills, employees, product, marketing and operating costs, or ourselves!) and given it to people in need both in the US and abroad – helping to feed, clothe and support abused women and children, orphanages, free sex slaves, help disaster victims and others in need.

This has been one of our greatest passions and drivers in our business and it is a privilege and honor to be able to GIVE into the work of God’s Kingdom according to Matthew 25.

At one point a few years ago, our accountants told us, numerous times… we were giving too much.

They said the IRS was going to penalize us for giving too much (they were not going to allow the deductions, which is not the reason we give nor has it ever stopped or influenced our giving, but certainly all of us can use all the deductions we possibly can especially if you are giving away nearly 30% of your net business income!).

We were told, basically, that if we had gone out and purchased some new equipment that year (which our business did not need) or even purchased a new SUV we could write it off, but because we gave to people in need, we couldn’t.

Pretty crazy huh.

Well, to make a long story short, we setup a non-profit foundation called Kings Ransom Foundation to make things a little easier and also because so many of our clients were asking over the years for good recommendations on places to give.

We have a strong conviction that our giving should get into the hand of those in need and not get caught in the "administrative overhead" of any organization.

Kings Ransom Foundation operates totally from our own personal funding, and all outside donations are given 100% to those in need.

We have a very stringent "vetting" and interview process that we put each organization we give to through, to determine if they qualify for funds. The full details can be found on the Kings Ransom Foundation website, but basically, we make sure the funds go directly and completely to exactly what the organization says it does (unlike some international organizations who will run TV commercials saying your donation is to help a particular cause and then later you find out the money went into some general fund and was never distributed or went to the salaries of some high paid executives – um, that’s called fraud!).

Anyway, bottom line is, if you want to be a part of helping these poor people in Haiti we are going to personally match your donation 100%. If you give $1000, we are going to match it $1000. If you give $100, we’ll match it $100. Give $10 or even $1 and we’ll match it the same. I don’t know how long we can or will do this, so please don’t delay. We may only be able to do this another day or two frankly.

Wow, can you believe it? It’s 2010, and an entire decade just flew by so fast.

I can remember celebrating New Years eve 1999 like it was yesterday – pondering what the future would hold as the clock turned over and into a new millennium.

The world has changed a lot in the past year, and certainly the last 10 years too hasn’t it.

We are living in a very different world today, a world of much uncertainty, where the freedoms we once took for granted not so long ago seem to be under attack daily by one group or another, each claiming to have the answer to what ails us most, fueled by an ever growing majority (ie; mob) wanting more and more for less and less, so long as someone else pays the price.

Looking into the future, I am reminded of an ever important truth stated by Benjamin Franklin below.

“Those who would give up Liberty for Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”

Some would say times have changed and the wisdom of founding fathers like Benjamin Franklin no longer applies in today’s "more evolved sophisticated" world.

I would beg to differ.

There is nothing new under the sun and for thousands of years there have always been tyrants and "elitists" trying to dominate and control the destiny of others. Unfortunately, that is still true today. Sober students of history have not forgotten this fact, regardless of what current messages are being promoted through today’s sophisticated propaganda mechanisms. Even the apostle Paul himself warned, “When they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them… And they shall not escape.” (1 Thessalonians 5:3).

Indeed freedom is not free, there is a price to pay. Personal responsibility and eternal diligence is a major part of that price. If you want to change your life, your economic situation, your relationships – then it will always start with being willing to look in the mirror and truthfully accept responsibility for where you are at, then working diligently on making the changes you want most. Its up to you. You and no one else are in control of your future in 2010.

Even though times have changed this past year and past decade, trends have changed, technology has changed, economies have changed, culture and politics have changed (or maybe not so much?) – there is one thing you can be certain of.
