Have You Been Living The Wrong Dream?
Sometimes you are going steady, achieving success, but at the end of the day, it just doesn’t feel right. You should be happy and from the outside your life looks perfect, but something is off. What is it?
What is your job description? I’m not just talking about your “day job,” but all the other jobs you step into every day of your life. You could be a mother, father, loyal friend, go-to friendly handyman, supportive sibling, ever-ready listening ear. You might also be a part-time couch potato, binge Facebooker, Netflix watcher or non-stop selfie-taker.
Well, I’ve got some news for you: what you focus on, you will get good at. And taking an honest look at how you spend your time, could have a MAJOR impact on whether you’re living your life by design… or not!
You see, by living in “default” mode, you’re following the life plan of someone else. Wake up, go to work, clock out right at 5, spend some time with the kids, eat and watch television until bedtime. A person who lives by default, is not living the life they want. They wish they could live differently, but are not working to achieve that different lifestyle.
Do you focus on things that bring the best results, or waste time on things that take you further away from your goals? If you focus on things that fail to bring you the results you want, it’s time to reclaim your lost time, and start living life by your own design!
If you currently work in an unpaid “job” that takes time and focus away from your other priorities, you need to QUIT! If you are a full-time customer service representative and a full-time, unpaid “counselor” for your friends AND a full-time member of your extended family… you are OVER-EXTENDED! When do you have time for YOU?
No wonder you don’t have time to pursue your goals and dreams!
Let me share Lindsay Krause’s story with you: “I used to work non-stop. I sat in front of my computer for 10 hours a day, trying to make my business work. I was totally burnt-out and actually fell into a depression for 2 months, and scared of losing it ALL! I was exhausted, and it just wasn’t worth it all anymore. I plugged into First Steps To Success, and since then we’ve paid off $45,000 of debt in 18 months, our business has grown over 800% and we have $10,000 in savings. We’ve also helped our community pay off $1.2 million of debt! We are expecting our second child, and I am no longer neglecting my priorities. I work 10-15 hours a week, and I get to have rest and peace. We are THRIVING!”
My friend, it’s time to start living your life, instead of being a slave to it! Is this to say you should stop being the supportive ear, keeping in touch with family on Facebook or not pursuing your hobbies? Absolutely not! But you do need to set your priorities and boundaries.
Ultimately, it comes down to evaluating where you spend your time. If you eliminate a lot of those extra “job positions” and daily activities that do NOT bring you closer to your goals and dreams. Then start to focus on priorities that pay off in better relationships, career advancement and progress toward your financial goals. The lifelong benefits will astound you.
If you chose to stop living by default and start living by design, what would your life look like? What if you actually had time to focus on the things you love? What if you could finally have more fun, help more people, become more successful and be more efficient? It’s not hard! You CAN make time for those things… and you can start today!
I hope today’s message encourages you to look at how you spend your time and ways you can regain control of your life!
