I want you to look around you right now. Think about your work environment. What is it like? What is the overall feel of it? Is it a laid back? Is it stressful? Is it an environment of excellence? Or is it an environment where people just show up to do their jobs, but you can tell they don’t really want to be there?

You’ve heard that "environment is everything". Today I’m going to show you how and why, and you’re going to learn how to create a work environment where your employees or co-workers can thrive. You’re also going to learn how your work environment directly affects your income and the company’s bottom line.

Have you ever walked into a business where you can tell the employees are happy to be there? They smile at you and are friendly. They are respectful and they honor their customers. You can tell that they genuinely like what they are doing. The environment of that business is completely different than most places you have been. And what does that do to you, the customer? It makes you feel good. It makes you want to do business with them. A good internal working environment creates a good environment for your clients.

But what does that kind of environment do for the employees? If the employee feels like, "Oh my gosh, I love this place," what does that do to the morale of the company? It makes the employees and management feel good about what they’re doing.

That’s our environment here at If you ever had the opportunity to come sit in our office for a day, you would be blown away. People love to be here. They love what they do.

We just hired a bunch of new people. One of our new employees, Stephanie, said, "I’ve worked for a lot of companies. And it’s really strange because in most companies, there are the full-on slackers, which is the majority of people. Then you have the ones who are pushing their way to the top, stepping all over people, stabbing people in the back, and fighting to get to the top. The slackers look at the fighters and say, ‘You guys are a bunch of idiots!’ and the fighters say the same to the slackers."

Stephanie was amazed. She said, "There is none of that here! There are no slackers, and there’s no one stabbing people in the back to get to the top. Everybody is working at the same pace. Everyone encourages each other. Everyone wants to know what the company’s goals are and how they can help to reach those goals."

In their first meeting, Stephanie’s manager asked her, "So how much money do you want to make this month?" Stephanie said, "WHAT?! Seriously???" Her manager responded with, "Yes, seriously. I would like to set up a way for you to be able to earn that."

Stephanie had to get up and walk out of the room for a minute. When she came back in, she said to her manager, "I’m sorry, my head is spinning. You actually want to bonus me? You actually want ME to succeed? I’ve never worked in an environment like this before in my life!"

And here’s the thing: Most company owners do want their employees to succeed. They just don’t communicate that. The reality is, your boss is not out to get you, as many people believe. They are for you, not against you! They are not waiting for you to screw up. They believe in you and they want you to succeed. Think about it – they would not have hired you if they didn’t believe in you.

Your boss wants you to be happy, because when you are happy, that creates a great work atmosphere. And remember, we already talked about the effect a good environment has on a client… It makes them want to do business with you, which ultimately increases the company’s bottom line. It is a win-win situation.

So do you see the full picture here? Do you understand the importance of a good work environment?

I know right now there are people reading this and thinking, "But Dani, my boss just doesn’t like me," or "Gosh, I wish I had a great working environment, but everyone around me is so negative! I just wish we could have the same kind of environment you have in your office, but that’s just not going to happen in my office."

Guess what! You have to create that kind of environment. You think the environment in our office just happened one day? No way! We create that environment. And how? By plugging our employees into training that prepares them for it. All of our employees have been through First Steps to Success and Creating a Dynasty, where they have learned the leadership skills, the work ethic, and the people skills that are required here. They have learned how to create and work in this kind of environment.

So today I want you to focus on creating the kind of environment you want to work in. Do you want an environment of slackers and fighters? Or do you want an environment where people work with excellence and encourage each other? It’s up to you.

A great way to begin creating this kind of mutually beneficial work environment is by sharing content like this with your business partners, employees, and co-workers. Imagine if everyone inside of your company began working together to create an uplifting environment where everyone can thrive. It will explode not only your influence, but your income as well.
