Meanwhile the retail federation anticipates American will spend over 600 BILLION dollars this season. And, here’s the kicker… I just came across an ABC article last week saying retail owners might be disappointed this year.
In fact, the four-day BIG SALE weekend that began Thanksgiving Day generated only $57.4 billion. While that is a lot of money, it is 3 percent LESS than last year! Which means this year is the first time in over 7 years that those numbers actually declined. Retail growth at this rate will cap at 2.1 percent – the worst retail performance since 2009, when our country was in the depths of a recession!
More and more people are not falling for the traps anymore or have just become tired of the holiday commercialism. This trend is inspiring, as if Americans are finally starting to wake up and smell the scam!
