Breathe Life Into Your Abandoned Goals
Have you ever felt the sting of rejection? People have said critical words about you, made you feel unaccepted. It might have led you to become fearful of people. But […]
I have a question for you today. Who makes more money – a general M.D. or a brain surgeon? The brain surgeon, of course. Why? Not because of his looks, personality, skin color, religion or family background. It’s because he has specialized skills.
Even if the general M.D. has an amazing bedside manner and the brain surgeon is cold and insensitive, the brain surgeon will still make more money because he has a higher skill set. He has invested more time and money into increasing his skills than the general M.D. did.
And it works the exact same way for you. It’s the Law of Value: The marketplace pays for value, and the only thing that determines your value are your skill sets.
You are in control of your skills. And the fact you are here reading The Daily Fix right now shows you are doing what you can to increase your skills. So, congratulations! I am proud of you for taking this first step.
I want you to ask yourself a question right now. In fact, it’s a good question to ask yourself every day. “How can I increase my value at work today?”
There are so many more I could give you. But this is a great place to start. Ask yourself, “What can I do to increase my value at work today?” Take these 4 tips into your workplace, and you will see results.
Remember, the higher your skill sets, the higher your pay and the faster you will be promoted. You are improving your skills and specializing your skills in an area that will lead you to success instead of down the path of mediocrity today.
